off on another adventure

Earlier this week we went to the ACO (Australian Chamber Orchestra) It doesn't actually matter what they play they are always fabulous. This was Beethoven Mozart and Bach. We thoroughly enjoyed it of course.

Tonight we are off on our next adventure - to Auckland - San Francisco - Toronto - that's a lot of mileage. I am luck to be teaching at the Inspiring Threads Seminar next week and be the guest speaker and we are trading at the special trading night on the Thursday. So I have packed the magic suitcase and now to pack my own suitcase. Some how we are quite organised and I have also managed to cut and roll silk laps today (oh so beautiful and I am busting to get back as I want to start stitching on them.) and even weed some of the garden.

Yesterday was somewhat traumatic. Our beautiful tree poisoned by evil nasty person was pruned thanks to the wonderful City of Vincent and I keep being assured that this is the best chance. The bottom left branch is very healthy full of branches and leaves and apparently there is good sap and we shall see what happens in the spring. About 30 years to grow, 1 evil person to almost kill.

I have done my prep for the trip - on a base of cocoon strippings so shall get some stitching done. We have a long day tomorrow in Auckland but crazily get to San Fran midday Saturday. Get it all back when we return. Onto Toronto on Monday.

Not sure if I can blog - my blog upload won't let me add photos - this has happened before but I will try. Or maybe be some long ones when we return on 6th June.

A birthday and another trip - still in April

We came back from Broome just in time for a birthday outing to Long Chim - lucky me. I love this restaurant - hot and authentic.

David Thompson - I have devoured his two cookbooks for a long time now and have his dvd which I must watch soon.

We haven't tried the green chicken curry but we will. We had a wonderful fish when we went.

Then I flew off to Melbourne to AQC. We traded there from the first one but a couple of years ago decided that was that. I thought it was time to go check things our and I also helped out on the Wonderfil stand when I was wanted. I met up with lots of colleagues and friends and customers who kept saying come back come back but it isn't possible. For the first time i actually checked out all of the stands to see what might be new. I didn't see anything new but I did collect a few ideas for when I have a moment to think about.

I enjoyed the SAQA dinner outing organised by Lisa Walton (not the food though) and I found a fish and chip shop with wonderful fish. I caught up with Jacinta and after dinner she took me to have an icecream at Messina - very nice indeed.

On Friday night I walked to Movida where there was just a spot at the bar for me and I enjoyed a glass of red and a couple of tapas

these were my croquettes

and then I walked to the stadium to watch the Hurricanes clean up the Rebels - it was a good game and I had an enthusiastic bunch of guys sitting next to me.

I came back on Sunday and back to work. Always plenty to catch up with when you go away.

Then to finish the month off we went to the Perth Symphonic Chorus Shakespeare (and others) concert - especially enjoyed The Lark Ascending with Paul Wright as soloist.

So now I am up to May and it IS May.

April means Broometime

April for about 10 years has been Broometime for us - a little r and r. It should be the end of the wet season heading into slightly cooler less humid times. Of course nature does not always run that way and one year it rained a lot - another it was too cold for Ian to swim can you believe? You just have to watch his antics when it is time to get in the water. Anyway off we went and her we are coming in to land soon.

Always love the colours and I never believed them before we went there.

Landing and always red dirt to greet you

You cannot beat the colours

Frangipanis to greet us - they were beautiful this year and so many of htem everywhere

The Bali Hai Cafe was operating whihc for us is a first - the food was fabulous and we enjoyed chatting to the chef - he did look very hot and bothered as the weather was very warm. I had yummy coffin Bay oysters and Ian something else becasue he does not like oysters luckily for me.
It was too hot to cook this time so we ate out all 4 night - at Little India - always good - at Diver's Tavern where the food was also good and at the little deli on the corner where we had great fish and chips.

We spent our time swimming and reading and had the pool to ourselves just about all the time. We knew it was time to leave when the school holidays began though.

Indulgence of painted toe nails - I have to justify the lovely nail polish i bought in New York - Good Girl Bad Girl it is called.

And I did do some stitching which I am still rushing to finish. Then the wee break was over and it was back to work.
